En plus des procédures de calcul améliorées adaptées aux échangeurs, des méthodes d'optimisation des réseaux d'échangeurs ont été récemment mis au point ;

Hydrogen, energy vector for the future? Or, on the contrary, limited to its current applications in the field of chemistry and refining for decades to come, possibly even until the end of the century? There is much controversy over this issue and two sides to the argument. Advocates of the hydrogen civilisation consider that, following a technological revolution hydrogen will play a universal role alongside electricity as a substitute for fossil fuels, especially (but not only) in transport, leading to radical elimination of CO2 emissions. For the sceptics, and even outspoken opponents, hydrogen will remain restricted to its current applications due to the insoluble problems inherent to its generalised use, especially in transport.
This book highlights the increasing and inevitable role of "energy" hydrogen - as opposed to chemical hydrogen - in the key sectors of transport and "clean" electricity production. The first section is dedicated to current applications of energy hydrogen or those within reach in the not too distant future. The second section reviews the hydrogen production, distribution and storage technologies that are either commercially available or almost mature. The last section addresses the central issue of safety if hydrogen is to be used by the general public, before concluding on the short and medium term development perspectives of energy hydrogen.
This extensively documented book is intended for a wide audience including transport companies (road, air and waterway) and engine engineers as well as all those interested in the future of transport and fuels in the post-oil world.

As soon as you start to take an interest in the field of Petrophysics, you are struck by the duality between the "Physics" aspects and the "Geology" aspects. In most publications, the "Physics" aspect prevails. The rock itself is generally no more than a "black box" whose microscopic structure is at best very briefly described, as a model sometimes remote from reality. Yet, how can we understand the fluid flow or capillary equilibria within a rock without a vital piece of information, the description of the geometry of the pore spaceoe And if we are to scale up highly isolated petrophysical observations to an entire oil reservoir or an aquifer, it is essential to implement the powerful extrapolation tool of "geological interpretation". This is clearly based on a good understanding of the relations between the petrophysical parameters studied and the petrological characteristics of the rock considered. This "Geological" approach of Petrophysics is at the hub of our project.

Catalysis by transition metal sulfides from molecular theroy to industrial application
Hervé Toulhoat, Pascal Raybaud
- TECHNIP

- 9782710809913
The main application of Transition Metal Sulphides (TMS) as solid catalysts is for production of clean fuels in petroleum refineries. The various feedstocks to be processed all contain more or less sulphur, included in highly stable heteroaromatic molecules. In order to meet the stringent specifications imposed worldwide nowadays on transportation fuels to reduce their environmental impact, catalytic hydroprocessing remains essential. In this process, sulphur is removed as H2S following the reaction between molecular hydrogen and the heteroaromatics. The reaction conditions and reaction medium composition are such that only TMS provide stable catalysts, generally supported on alumina. Both for their fundamental and applied interest, these fascinating systems are still the subject of a very significant research effort, while major advances have been made over the past 30 years, involving innovative preparation routes, sophisticated surface science experiments for characterisation, detailed kinetic and mechanistic studies, and state of the art DFT simulations giving unprecedented insight into the local structure as well as elementary steps at microscopic level.
This book aims at providing a complete, comprehensive and updated survey of the field, useful for anyone involved: the student starting a research project, the academic researcher or the refinery engineer willing to deepen their knowledge on the catalytic as well as on the process aspects. It is therefore organised into three parts: I - Fundamental Aspects, II - Progress in the Preparation and Characterisation, and III - Applications to the Production of Clean Fuels. 37 specialists from IFP Energies nouvelles, CNRS, or French universities have contributed, reporting a unique synthesis of the last 15 years of research. The preface written by Michèle Breysse, a well known leading scientist who devoted most of her fruitful career to this topic, puts this collective work into a meaningful historical perspective.

Once a natural gas or oil well is drilled, and it has been verified that commercially viable, it must be "completed" to allow for the flow of petroleum or natural gas out of the formation and up to the surface. This process includes: casing, pressure and temperature evaluation, and the proper instillation of equipment to ensure an efficient flow out of the well. In recent years, these processes have been greatly enhanced by new technologies. Advanced Well Completion Engineering summarizes and explains these advances while providing expert advice for deploying these new breakthrough engineering systems.
The book has two themes: one, the idea of preventing damage, and preventing formation from drilling into an oil formation to putting the well introduction stage; and two, the utilization of nodal system analysis method, which optimizes the pressure distribution from reservoir to well head, and plays the sensitivity analysis to design the tubing diameters first and then the production casing size, so as to achieve whole system optimization. With this book, drilling and production engineers should be able to improve operational efficiency by applying the latest state of the art technology in all facets of well completion during development drilling-completion and work over operations.
One of the only books devoted to the key technologies for all major aspects of advanced well completion activities.
Unique coverage of all aspects of well completion activities based on 25 years in the exploration, production and completion industry.
Matchless in-depth technical advice for achieving operational excellence with advance solutions.

This update of Marshall Parker's classic text contains the latest "hands-on" information for taking measurements and making the calculations necessary for cathodic protection of buried pipe lines. Essentially a practical field manual for corrosion technicians and engineers, it is a simple and direct introduction to the fundamentals of a complex subject. The contents cover soil resistivity surveys, potential surveys, line currents, current requirement surveys, rectifier systems for coated lines, ground bed design and installation, galvanic anodes on coated lines, hot spot protection, bond protection, stray current electrolysis, interference, operation and maintenance, and coating inspection and testing. There are also helpful appendixes that explain the fundamentals of underground corrosion, basic principles of cathodic protection, tables of properties of metals, and attenuation equations. While other books on corrosion are sometimes too theoretical for practical work, Pipe Line Corrosion and Cathodic Protection, Third Edition, shows you how to take actual field measurements and apply them to design a well-protected system.
